I am myself a Jew-By-Choice; I fully understand the difficulties involved when a person makes a decision to become a Jew because it often involves acceptance from one’s family in many cases.  I prefer to counsel the party or parties involved and I can recommend a course of study, which can take up to a year.  I want the proselyte to understand that becoming a Jew means learning the holidays and what they mean, the Jewish cycle of life and how to observe synagogue and home ceremonies, and most of all, I want the person to know that the decision to be a Jew is fulfilling and that the conversion ceremony is beautiful and welcoming.
